HR and Recruitment
HR Utilisation of handwriting analysis.
Recruitment
- With claims against employers having become a regular occurrence in the UK, employers have to ensure that their procedures for personnel recruitment and workforce management are watertight.
- Discrimination claims can be taxing for employers, but they have a far better chance to defend any claim if certain protocols are in place:-
1. If all applicants have undergone the same assessment and interview process
2. If all applicants have been scored or systematically assessed
3. If records of these assessments have been made.
- Handwriting analysis is an accepted form of assessment in the recruitment process, with a written report detailing the subject's social attitude, working qualities, strengths and weaknesses, intellect and emotional behaviour. This then becomes a recordable event for the applicants' files. A similar written report can then form part of the annual appraisal on each member of staff.
Personnel Selection
- Many employers will only offer a factual reference stating that an employee worked for them in a certain function within a specified time scale; this is of no real benefit to a prospective employer, as their preferred version would be to know the reliability of the applicant, if the applicant is a team player or a solo artist, works better with men or women, or how easily that applicant will take direction. All of this information and more is readily available to a trained handwriting analyst, and therefore an immense benefit to any person acting as a manager or within the HR field.
Personality Profiling / Job Responsibilities
- Business reorganisation is euphemistically referred to "rationalising a company", and this can cause an HR department major headaches. Legally, it is stated that an employer has to act reasonably and that it is essential for them to follow a fair procedure; using handwriting analysis an employer has the ability to profile staff, select and balance teams and locate natural leaders thus conforming to legal requirements, and support any business harmonisation.
Workforce Management
- Staff that are periodically off with sickness may well be suffering from stress as a result of playing a part that they perceive is necessary to undertake their work. The persona (or mask) that they wear during their working day denies their natural talents and working in an unnatural way becomes a burden and ultimately the person will suffer mentally, emotionally and physically. The immediate result is that the individual's brain has to work harder with short term results showing as increased irritability, headaches and difficulty in mastering any new task. The long term results are increased vulnerability to sickness, depression and exhaustion.
- Handwriting analysis can help to profile personalities thereby avoiding the problems of "square peg, round hole" syndrome; and ultimately reduce a company's absenteeism through sickness.
